Phone Accessory Trends 2019

Date Posted:3 July 2019

Ever since there have been mobile phones, there have been ways of personalising them, both for form and function. But we’ve come a long way since the days when coloured phone cases were the only phone accessory worth having.

In 2019, there are accessories that can make your phone look cooler, help you make the most of its features, or just have more fun with it. Things like heat sensitive phone cases, that change colour in response to the heat of your hand, definitely fall into the last category.

But phone accessories aren’t just for kids wanting to impress their friends. The accessories we’ve picked out here are not only some of the hottest phone trends for 2019, they could seriously change how you use your phone.

Wireless charging

Wireless charging is nothing new, but it’s getting ever more inventive and there are increasing numbers of products on the market that are both functional and good-looking. Wireless helps you avoid the clutter of chargers and wires, and the chargers are often design features in themselves. The industry standard has emerged as Qi, which is compatible with most major Android phones and iPhones, making it easy to share wireless chargers with friends and family.

There are some super-cheap wireless chargers on the market, but there are lots at the higher end too. Wireless charging furniture can be exceptionally stylish, with a wireless charging table meaning you never need to deal with tangled bedside wires again. Some charging tables also function as Bluetooth speakers, so you won’t need to worry about finding and charging a speaker as well as your phone. They’re perfect for the living room.

At the other end of the scale are small, portable wireless chargers. These are usually small, lightweight discs and are a great alternative to power packs for on-the-move charging, or to take to your desk.

Magnetic mounts

Attaching your phone to your car dashboard or windscreen is a must if you want to be able to talk and drive, or use your phone’s GPS. It’s illegal - not to mention dangerous - to use your phone other than hands-free and mounted. But fitting your phone into a standard frame mount can be fiddly and many mounts aren’t universal, meaning you’ll have to upgrade if you buy a new phone.

That’s where these nifty magnetic mounts come in. Simply stick your phone on and you’re ready to go.

Flexible holders

Mobile phones aren’t just for phoning people. You’ll often need to use your phone hands free, while driving, or to share videos with friends, or just for reading and browsing. Phone stands can help, as can holders you mount in your car.

Now, designers have come up with flexible phone holders. These nifty accessories mean that you can use a single holder at home, in the car or even on your bike. They’re usually universal, so if you get a new phone, you won’t need to buy a new holder. They have long, bendable arms, which means you can adapt them for use in the car, on your desk or even around your neck.

Selfie lighting

Forget the selfie stick. LuMee light up selfie case, as used by Kim Kardhasian, is designed to help you take better selfies by giving you studio lighting, wherever you are. The LuMee has become something of a must-have for serious selfie takers, with a wide choice of designs available, helping you style your phone at the same time as you style photo. There are lots of copycat products on the market too, many of them much cheaper than the LuMee.

3D photos

If you really want to step your selfie, or indeed your photo game in general, up another gear, take a look at Bevel. This product is designed to allow you to take 3D selfies. It attaches to your phone, and turns any picture you take into a 3D picture. That’s pretty impressive and should provide plenty of fun for both
